An award winning conversion from 1920's Art Deco picture house in 1998 produced a unique and dramatic setting for a stylish restaurant that retains many original features and as well as it's original name. With sweeping staircases and views to wow from mezzanine Circle Bar, The Daffodil now lends itself equally well to the intimacy of a special occasion, the hair loosening abandonment of a party, as well as wedding ceremonies and receptions.

I am a self confessed Daffodilaholic! Yes, there are a wide variety of eating places in Cheltenham at all levels of culinary taste and catering for all types of budget, but we return to The Daffodil time and time again because it is the one place we can rely on to deliver a consistently 5 star performance.

The Daffodil is for people who appreciate good quality food, cooked honestly to a high standard, served in unique surroundings by friendly and helpful staff. From walking up the steps from this lovely neighbourhood street into the converted Art Deco cinema, the warm greeting from the front of house staff and settling in the bar with a cocktail before being shown to your table, you feel that you are in the hands of people who care about you and want you to have a good experience.

We have been to The Daffodil as a couple, with close friends and in a larger group and it is always a great experience. Our last visit was in June to see the amazing jazz violinist Ralph Allin as part of The Daffodil’s Jazz and Martini Monday programme.

My personal favourite top and tails to a meal are the twice-baked Double Gloucester cheese soufflé (heavenly) and the chocolate fondant and salted caramel ice cream. There’s a great new grill for the mains but my recent discovery was the light beer batter fish and chips –mmm! And, if you still have room, or are a cheese fan, The Daffodil really knows its cheeses – they even have a club for it!
